Path Maximum Query and Path Maximum Sum Query in a Tree

چکیده
Let T be a node-weighted tree with n nodes, and let π(u, v) denote the path between two nodes u and v in T . We address two problems: (i) Path Maximum Query: Preprocess T so that, for a query pair of nodes u and v, the maximum weight on π(u, v) can be found quickly. (ii) Path Maximum Sum Query: Preprocess T so that, for a query pair of nodes u and v, the maximum weight sum subpath of π(u, v) can be found quickly. For the problems we present solutions with O(1) query time and O(n logn) preprocessing time. key words: path maximum query, path maximum sum query, tree.

Elicitation for Preferences Single Peaked on Trees
In multiagent systems, we often have a set of agents each of which have a preference ordering over a set of items and one would like to know these preference orderings for various tasks, for example, data analysis, preference aggregation, voting etc. However, we often have a large number of items which makes it impractical to ask the agents for their complete preference ordering. In such scenar...
متن کاملAn Effective Path-aware Approach for Keyword Search over Data Graphs
Abstract—Keyword Search is known as a user-friendly alternative for structured languages to retrieve information from graph-structured data. Efficient retrieving of relevant answers to a keyword query and effective ranking of these answers according to their relevance are two main challenges in the keyword search over graph-structured data. In this paper, a novel scoring function is proposed, w...
متن کاملIn-Memory Storage for Labeled Tree-Structured Data
In this thesis, we design in-memory data structures for labeled and weights trees, so that various types of path queries or operations can be supported with efficient query time. We assume the word RAM model with word size w, which permits random accesses to w-bit memory cells. Our data structures are space-efficient and many of them are even succinct. These succinct data structures occupy spac...
متن کاملIntegrated Query Processing Strategies for Spatial Path Queries
Path search and spatial query processing have been treated thus far as two disjoint areas by the database research community. However, to process a path query such as \Find the shortest path from my home to the ski resort that only goes through areas with an altitude < 1000 feet" requires database support in both path computation and spatial query processing. While support for such spatial path...
متن کاملAlgorithm for the Length-Constrained Maximum-Density Path Problem in a Tree with Uniform Edge Lengths
SUMMARY Given an edge-weighted tree with n vertices and a positive integer L, the length-constrained maximum-density path problem is to find a path of length at least L with maximum density in the tree. The density of a path is the sum of the weights of the edges in the path divided by the number of edges in the path. We present an O(n) time algorithm for the problem. The previously known algor...
